2010 Domaine Des Amoureux Muscadet
Andrew Jefford says muscadet as a grape is bready, lemony, fresh and brisk, flinty and sharp. Initially I found this French muscadet bought at Dan Murphy's, Lismore, both tart and sweet. It's light-bodied but has a long length in the palate. My drinking partner said it tasted like retsina, disparigingly. But he is prejudice against all non-Australian wines and wants to stick to know varietals. It has a lemon rather than a fruit perfume. It would be good with white bait, sardines or a sharp, dry cheese. At only $12.00, I went back for more, and more.
